About Sthiram Yoga
Sthiram Yoga was created as a space to slow down and reconnect with ourselves in the midst of busy modern life. The word Sthiram comes from Sanskrit and means steady, stable, and grounded. This practice is designed to help calm the nervous system, cultivate inner balance, and create moments of stillness where the mind can settle and the body can restore.
Classes at Sthiram follow a thoughtful and balanced structure. Each session begins with restorative postures to help release tension and quiet the mind. From there, students move into carefully guided standing poses that build strength, stability, and awareness. The practice gradually returns to restorative poses and meditation, allowing the body and mind to absorb the effects of the work. Rather than focusing on fast-paced sequences or heated environments, the emphasis is on alignment, breath awareness, and the deeper psychological benefits of yoga.
Sthiram Yoga is intended to be a supportive environment where students can step away from external expectations and reconnect with themselves. The practice encourages confidence that comes from within rather than from comparison or validation. Through mindful movement, breath, and stillness, students are invited to experience yoga not only as physical exercise but as a path toward greater clarity, resilience, and well-being.
Pooja Mishra completed her Yoga Teacher Training and National Certification Course in 2023 at the Institute for Spirituality and Health from Lex Gillan and Farida Meguid. She also assists in therapeutic yoga classes with a senior Iyengar yoga teacher, where she continues to deepen her understanding of alignment and the therapeutic applications of yoga. Her teaching is influenced by traditional alignment-based yoga practices and a belief that yoga can support both physical strength and inner steadiness in everyday life.
